New endowment to support all areas of cardiovascular disease and stroke at PRHC

For Griff and Tina Lloyd, the decision to create a named endowment in support of cardiovascular disease and stroke care at PRHC was motivated by a deeply personal loss – the death of Tina's father.

“In 1966, my father died of heart disease when he was just 63 years old,” says Tina Lloyd. “If he’d had access to the kind of technology we do today, I’m sure it would have prolonged his life and eased his suffering.”

While revising their Will, Tina and her husband Griff decided to create an endowment that will support all areas of care for heart disease, vascular disease and stroke at PRHC including prevention, treatment, intensive care, rehabilitation and education.

“We enjoy knowing that our bequest might inspire others to contribute to our fund, or even start their own,” Tina adds. “It feels wonderful to know that we’re creating something that will help people like my father long after we’re gone. We look forward to spending the rest of our lives watching it grow.” Creators of the Lloyd Cardiovascular and Stroke Endowed Fund, Tina and Griff Lloyd

Giving their way

For Walter and Wendy Somerville, the question isn’t whether or not to support PRHC, it’s how best to make their annual donation.

“Wendy and I support the PRHC Foundation because we believe it’s vital to have excellent quality health care close to home,” says Walter. “Over the years we’ve found that the best way for us to make a donation is by transferring publicly traded securities. Both parties benefit as the Foundation receives the donation while we receive a tax credit for the full proceeds of the sale. In the end, it allows us to make a more generous gift than if we chose to give cash.” PRHC Foundation donors Walter and Wendy Somerville.
